The goal of this page is to strengthen and improve communication between the Department and the community of Wapakoneta. I have the honor and privilege of being the Chief of Police of Wapakoneta. My responsibility is to ensure our community is provided with the best law enforcement and public safety possible. Our Department is comprised of dedicated sworn Officers and dispatchers. We also have a sworn Auxiliary that works a variety of details and assists our full-time Officers. Our Department receives great support from our citizens and city leaders and our goal is to continue to provide the best, professional service we can. Working in partnership with the community to enforce the laws, provide quality law enforcement service and take appropriate measures to combat crime while being responsive and caring to the needs of the city’s residents. The Wapakoneta Police Department is dedicated to fulfilling this expectation to the citizens of Wapakoneta by maintaining a professional public safety agency with policing practices and tactics that compliment the needs of the City of Wapakoneta. We strive to complete our mission while being honest in our dealings with the community and each other while having the courage to do what is right.

The Wapakoneta Police Department offers full testing services for the position of Police Officer through National Testing Network (NTN). To register with the NTN and schedule a test, go to, select ‘Find Jobs’, then select Law Enforcement Jobs and sign up for Wapakoneta.

When you visit the website:

  • Complete the NTN registration process and schedule your test
    • Review all information related to the Wapakoneta Police Officer, including minimum requirements, salary, and benefits.
  • Review detailed information about the testing process.
  • Review the Frequently Asked Questions and take an online practice test (if desired).

Upon completion of your scheduled exam, scores are automatically forwarded to the Wapakoneta Police Department. Candidates who attain a passing score on the entry level exam will be placed on Wapakoneta’s eligibility list. The Wapakoneta Police Department will contact candidates on the list and will invite them to participate in further stages of the selection process.

Nation Testing Network is a service provided to conduct entry level testing in a standardized, professional environment. Nation Testing Network does not replace the Wapakoneta Police Department’s responsibility and decision making in the testing process. All Candidate results are provided to the Wapakoneta Police Department where the final decisions are made.



The Wapakoneta Police Department is comprised of 19 full-time officers, 5 dispatchers, and 3 auxiliary officers.  The department has one full time detective that is designated in plain clothes during his work week. The department also has two School Resource Officers. Patrol Officer’s Jared Clark and Travis Christy have this assignment and work side by side with school officials.  All officers are encouraged to stop by our schools and make their presence known.  This also includes extra patrol duties in and around the schools in the mornings and afternoons. The department has a K-9 Unit that is handled by Patrolman Joseph Welker.  The K-9’s name is Fox and he is a Patrol/Narcotics dog.
