JOB SUMMARY
Manage tax office; keep current on tax laws; update Tax Ordinances as needed. Update website for changes in tax information; update tax forms annually; update tax rates in software.
Verify and approve tax cash batches; submits daily tax cash batches to office manager for verification of deposit; process refunds and prepare purchase orders; manage bankruptcy paperwork and process claims if needed.
Prepare Ohio Business Gateway payments and returns; transmit OBG payment through bank; contact the Ohio State Lottery to obtain a list of winners and the State of Ohio Tax Department to obtain listed residents who filed a State Tax Return.
Prepare database for quarterly update of corrected address through Postal Service via tax form printer (mandatory); prepare forms for submission to the printer for annual mailing of tax forms; prepare purchase orders for payment to vendors for tax items; prepares 1099 for submittal to IRS.
Prepares cases for court proceedings if warranted; attends court cases and bankruptcy proceeding if necessary.
Participate in the Income Tax Board of Review annually; attend tax seminars when available; currently serves as the Treasurer of the Tax Association of West Central Ohio.
Processes all daily tax mail; wait on tax customers as needed.

5 years tax experience preferred; Experience in collections; skilled in various computer applications.
SALARY/BENEFITS
The salary range for the position is $52,000 to $57,408 annually. The City also provides a comprehensive benefits package which includes participation in the OPERS retirement system, medical, dental, vision and life insurance, paid vacation, holidays and sick leave.
