The Wapakoneta Electric Department duties include calls for service interruption, responding to outages, maintenance of substations and the power distribution system, street lighting and traffic signals.

The residents of Wapakoneta are served by a community-owned, not-for-profit public electric utility. Public power utilities are owned by the community and run as a division of local government. Our  utility is governed by our local city council. Community citizens have a direct voice in utility decisions and policy making. Business is conducted in the open and citizens know where their power comes from and how and why decisions affecting their utility bills are made.
